Michal Joseph, AuD, Audiology Director
Dr. Joseph has worked as a Clinical Audiologist for the past 28 years. She holds an undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa; and Doctor of Audiology from A.T. at the University of Arizona. Dr. Joseph’s experience is diverse both clinically and culturally; she has worked in South Africa, Canada, and the USA providing diagnostic and rehabilitative services to children and adults. Dr. Joseph started working with CEID 8 years ago as a part-time Audiologist, but in 2014 she came onboard full-time as CEID’s Audiology Director and is our lead on-site audiologist. She specializes in hearing aid amplification technology, assistive listening devices, and custom ear protection. She is bilingual in English and Hebrew.
Lauren Johnson, AuD., CCC-A, Audiologist
Dr. Johnson is a licensed Audiologist and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A). She completed her undergraduate studies in Communication Disorders and American Sign Language at Central Michigan University in 2013. She obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she also received specialized training in pediatric audiology and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her specialties include Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing, best practice diagnostic evaluation, and holistic intervention of hearing loss for adults and children. Lauren was diagnosed with hearing loss as a teenager and is now a binaural hearing aid user; she enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge of hearing aid technology with clients. She is a Michigan native who enjoys cycling, traveling, and pets of all kinds.
Lorna Wright, AuD., Audiologist
Dr. Wright has been an audiologist for over 40 years and has worked in many areas in northern California in small practices and in large hospitals. She completed her education at San Francisco State University and is licensed as an Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser. Dr. Wright works part-time at CEID to support our CEID audiology team by working directly with adults to complete hearing evaluations and hearing aid fittings.
Madelene Galvan, Audiology Coordinator
Madelene joined CEID in 2017 as our Audiology Program Coordinator. She is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of both our Berkeley and Oakland audiology clinics. She joins our team with an undergraduate degree in Nursing from Manila Central University and is certified in Early Childhood Special Education with the State of California. Madelene comes to us with a newly completed certification in Financial Management from Cornell University that helps round out her medical and administrative background. She is bilingual in English and Tagalog.
Esmeralda Martinez, Audiology Assistant
Esmeralda joined CEID in 2016 as a part-time audiology assistant. She completed a Medical Administrative Assistant and Medical Terminology course at Castro Valley Adult School in 2014. Esmeralda has experience in customer service and is bilingual in Spanish. Her main duties include test assisting during pediatric appointments, scheduling, and translating.
